“සෞභාග්‍යා දිවිවරුණ” Programme

The second programme of the pilot project of the “සෞභාග්‍යා දිවිවරුණ” programme of the year 2021 was held on 19.02.2021 at the ‘Ralajayapura’ housing project in Rajgama, Galle with the primary objective of creating a generation with social values, customs and social values ​​at the settlement level.

The Tsunami Disaster Displaced Low Income Settlement Residence is home to a number of social issues such as drug trafficking and use, child abuse and the youth and children can be identified as high risk groups. The main objective of initiating this project was to reduce the exposure of children to such social issues by directing them to Dhamma education.

60 children and 54 parents participated in this program and the relevant program was conducted with the resource contribution of Mr. K A I Sampath, Coordinating and Research Officer of the Mahavansha Secretariat at the Department of Cultural Affairs, to motivate the children by using examples such as song criticism, positive attitudes etc. and by engaging in practical activities. It is a great privilege for the Urban Settlement Development Authority to be able to send the above mentioned children who have not been sent to Dhamma School education to Dhamma Education.
