Prevention and Control Awareness Programme of COVID 19 at Angulana (Phase I)
The awareness programme was conducted for the residents of Angulana Sayurapura Housing Scheme during 9th and 10th June 2020 from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
Day I was planned to promote awareness among residents of Block B – Session 1, Block C – Session 2 and Block D – Session 3, while Day II sessions were conducted for residents of Block E – Session 1, Block F – Session 2 and Block A & G – Session 3.
The residents showed much enthusiasm on participating for the awareness workshop. One person from each of the 288 households was invited to participate for the programme. An informative presentation was conducted with demonstrations and videos on proper hand washing methods, wearing and removing of face masks for the prevention and control of the virus. Face masks for all family members and a leaflet on instruction to use the face masks were disseminated at the end of the awareness programme. This programme was collaboratively organized with the valued patronage of UNICEF Sri Lanka and the Social Mobilization Division of USDA.

Udaya Nanayakkara; Ms. Safina Abdulloeva, Child Survival & Development Manager and Ms. Nilusha Patabandhi, WASH Specialist representing United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Sri Lanka Country Office; Dr. Manuja Thilakarathne, MOH and Mr. Nadeera, PHI from Moratuwa MOH Office; and Mr. Sharadha Fernando, OIC Angulana participated for the inaugural session.
