The Swashakthi Human Development Programme has conferred special status to children of new settlements. A key purpose is to enable children to establish their own societies with a view to maintain meaningful and sustainable relationships to identify and fulfill their needs, and also to bring out their best. Some of the activities are as follows:
- Art Competitions
- Short Drama Competitions
- Essay competitions
- Thrift and Savings Societies
These societies also intend to empower the recipients with Computer Literacy Skills as well as soft skills, covering attitudes and values that become foundation knowledge for them to build wisely for the future.
The children who are encouraged to pursue with these empowerment programmes are annually rewarded for what they have demonstrated at the World Habitat Day celebrations.
