In order to implement housing projects for the middle class, the identification of government-owned lands in Colombo, Gampaha and their suburbs was carried out by the USDA and one such land is the “Orchard Watta” land belonging to the Land Reform Commission 3.7977 hectares in extent identified as LRC/No./3179 (Plan No. 777) Lot No. 01 located at Nambadaluwa village in the Attangalla Divisional Secretary Division. It is proposed to plan the project using 3.389 hectares of this land and the Land Reforms Commission has agreed to transfer this land to the USDA.
It is proposed to be financed through the selection of a suitable investor using national competitive bidding under public private partnership without being charged to the Treasury.
