Social Development Programs implemented at the settlement level for the month of January 2025

Under the social development program implemented by the Urban Settlements Development Authority, programs aimed at empowering communities in urban underserved settlements are carried out. These programs target the community, children, youth, and the elderly, focusing on social, economic, cultural, educational, and spiritual development.

Accordingly, under the Community Empowerment Program, which runs concurrently with the Social Development Program in 2025, continuous programs are being implemented to improve the living conditions of communities residing in urban underserved settlements. This is achieved by empowering the communities to foster social unity. As part of this initiative, under the program to establish and strengthen community-based organizations, nine community societies were established in January 2025, involving 413 communities

Under the Educational Program, with the aim of developing the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for children from underserved settlements to enter a competitive world through education, two children’s societies were established as part of the Child Development Program. A total of 97 children were involved in this initiative.

Under the Entrepreneurship Development Program, initiatives are being implemented to economically strengthen low-income communities living in urban areas. The program targets individuals who are either engaged in self-employment or aspire to be self-employed and demonstrate potential. Accordingly, 11 awareness programs on self-employment were conducted in 11 settlements, targeting those interested in or already involved in self-employment. A total of 438 community members participated in these programs. Additionally, under the self-employment training programs, 2 soap production workshops were conducted in 2 settlements, involving 38 community members.

With the aim of creating a new, critically thinking cultural individual who embraces multicultural coexistence and human dignity, a children’s awareness program was conducted under the Cultural and Aesthetic Skills Development Program. A total of 40 children participated in this initiative
