The Urban Settlement Development Authority (USDA),which was established in 2008 by Parliament Act No. 36 of 2008, is an institution functioning under the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing. The formulation of national policy in relation to urban settlement development and ensuring implementation of such policy, along with the provision of improvements to the living conditions of people in underserved settlements, are the interconnected twin objectives of the establishment of USDA.

Solid Waste Management Awareness Campaign at Sayurupura Housing Project

In accordance with the Clean Sri Lanka concept, an awareness campaign on solid waste management and environmental cleaning was held on 21.12.2024 under the environmental program of the Moratuwa Agulana Sayurupura Housing Project, under the guidance of the Chairman and the Director General of the Urban Settlement Development Authority, under the supervision of the Public Health Inspector of Sri Lanka, with the participation of the staff members and community.

Mrs. K.K.W. Thushari Priyanka De Silva officially took over as the Director General of Urban Settlement Development Authority (USDA) on 19th November 2024 at a ceremony held at the Director General office of USDA, attended by Chairman, Mr. Asanka Abeywardena and the senior management of USDA.

With align to World Habitat Day 2023 celebrations “Siyana children’s painting competition” was held on 07th October, 2023 at Gampaha Udugamipala Senarat Paranavitana National School.

Conducting a scholarship workshop for grade five children on 19.10.2023 at the settlement of Kaduwela Boralugoda for 78 students .
