Assuming the duties of the Chairman of Urban Settlement Development Authority
Mr. Asanka Abeywardena assumed duties as the Chairman of the Urban Settlement Development Authority (USDA) at a ceremony held on 16th October 2024 at the chairman office of USDA, attended by the senior management of USDA.
Mr. Abeywardena is a retired Special Grade SLAS officer with 30 years of service in the Government sector. Prior to this appointment he has held the positions of Government Agent (GA) Trincomalee, Additional GA Ampara, Education Secretary of Ministry of Education, Secretary to the Governor Eastern Province and Additional Secretary of Fisheries.
He is an alumni of Bachelor of Arts in Sociology of the university of Colombo and also holds a Masters of Arts from Faculty of Sociology of the university of Kelaniya.
